About Practice Transitions Institute
PTI guides dentists through practice valuations, sales, acquisitions, DSO offers, buy-ins, and partnerships. We bring the financial, operational, and human decisions into one coordinated transition plan.
Our Story
A Transition Firm Built Around Clear Advice
Practice Transitions Institute was founded to give dentists a more personal, coordinated way to navigate ownership changes and major career decisions.
Dr. Michael Njo founded PTI after experiencing dentistry as a clinician, owner, educator, and transition advisor. The goal is practical: give dentists the context and personal guidance needed to make an informed transition decision.
Under Dr. Njo's leadership and Liz Armato's operational direction, PTI helps clients clarify goals, understand value and deal structure, coordinate outside advisors, and prepare for the people affected by a transition.
Each written engagement defines the work, the PTI lead, who PTI represents, fees, and when an attorney, CPA, lender, or other licensed professional should be involved.

The professionals responsible for PTI's transition strategy and client experience

Dr. Michael Njo
Founder & Transition Consultant
With over 30 years in dentistry, I've had the honor of guiding dentists through one of the most important decisions of their careers: transitioning their practice. I wrote the Dental Practice Transitions Handbook to help demystify the process, and I've taught at both UCSF and the University of the Pacific, where I continue to support future dentists as part of the admissions team and as an advisor to the Dugoni Business Club. I also speak with dental students and General Practice Residency (GPR) residents about contracts, ownership, and practice transitions so they can build a stronger foundation early in their careers.
I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Dugoni Alumni Association and the California Dental Association Leadership Council, where I'm proud to contribute to the future of dental education and policy. My work today is rooted in the same values that guided my clinical career: integrity, clarity, and doing what's best for both doctors and patients.

Very insightful!
“Very insightful book! I found the chapters in this book extremely informative. It covers topics that every Dentist should know, but are rarely talked about in dental school or dental circles. It was a great read coming right out of dental school. I highly recommend.”

Liz Armato
COO
With over 25 years in the dental industry, I've had the privilege of working in client service, engagement, marketing, and strategic partnerships, including many years at Pride Institute.
While at Pride, I worked alongside Michael as part of the transitions team. At PTI, we bring that same collaborative spirit to every client we serve.
My passion lies in making sure dentists feel informed, supported, and confident through every step of their transition. Helping guide that journey is what I love most.
